Golden Temple, Amritsar tour will take you to the most visited place in India, the holiest pilgrimage for Sikh communities across the world the Golden Temple. A visit to Golden Temple shrine will be the main attraction of this tour. However, other sites you visit will be no less - Jallianwala Bagh where a massacre took place during India freedom struggle from British raj. Witness an emotionally charged border closing ceremony at Wagah and the fort that has one of the most glorious histories. Of course a visit to the capital city of India, Delhi is part of this tour.      

Day 01 - Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Met by our representative and transfer to hotel.

Day 02 – Delhi
Proceed on a full day sightseeing tour of Delhi. Capital of India where history has seamlessly given space to modernity without losing its presence. One of the largest cities in the world, it is dotted with imposing monuments of Hindu, Mughal and Colonial era. 

Visit Jama Masjid the largest mosque of India which can accommodate 25000 people at a time for offering prayer. Qutab Minar one of the tallest break minarets in the world, Humayun Tomb considered to be one of the forerunners of the Taj Mahal. Drive pass India Gate and other government buildings. A visit to Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi Memorial) will be a part of the sightseeing.

Apart from visiting historic buildings one gets to take cycle rickshaw ride through the narrow alleyways of Chandni Chowk is an experience by itself. Once was a flamboyant bazaar (market place) for the novels of the Mughal era, it today is the largest wholesale market of Asia.

Day 03 – Delhi to Amritsar
Morning transfer to New Delhi railway station to board the train for Amritsar. Arrive Amritsar and transfer to hotel.

Evening watch sound and light show at Gobindgarh Fort to know about Punjab and its history.

Day 04 – Amritsar
Morning visit the The Golden Temple. Convinced with the idea of creating a central place for worship for Sikhs, Guru Arjan Sahib, the Fifth Nanak got the foundation of Harmandir Sahib (the other word for Golden Temple) laid by a Muslim saint Hazrat Mian Mirji of Lahore on 1588. Completed in 1561 today it boasts of complex of shrines that are revered highly not just the Sikh but people from all religions. Main buildings to be visited in the complex are Harmandir Sahib the main shrine where Guru Granth Sahib the holy book of Sikh was installed, Akal Takath (Throne of Almighty) it is from where all commandments affecting the community as a whole were issued. Akal Takath also has collection of weapons used by Sikh gurus and other heroes. The Sikh Museum inside the complex comprises a gallery of paintings telling the story of the Sikh community and their martyrs. Later visit Jallianwala Bagh the site were a peaceful procession of people during freedom struggle was massacred by General Dyer in 1919.

Afternoon drive Wagah Border (24 Km one way) to witness boarder closing ceremony. This ceremony takes place everyday after sundown when neatly dressed armed soldiers from India and Pakistan perform an energy packed parade while lowering their respective country’s flags and closing the boarder gates for the day. The experience is quite moving and charged with feeling of patriotism/nationalism as one can witness people on both side of boarder chanting patriotic slogans.

Day 05 – Amritsar
Morning depart the hotel for a day return village tour in the outskirts of Amritsar. Punjab is known as the granary of India. A large part of the region has lush green fields, canals, tube wells under old trees and villages with character where the people are large-hearted and hospitable. These villages have a typical character and authentic cuisine. While you enter the village you will be welcomed with a glass of Lassi (a cooling drink made out of yogurt), one also gets to see how it is prepared. Take a leisurely walk around the village see the local houses, barns, the process of cutting and feeding the cattle etc. Also, visit village shops, school and local Gurudwara, handicrafts, carpet weaving places and learn the art of weaving from the skilled craftsmen and women. Ride a tractor or a bullock cart through the fields to observe sowing, irrigating or harvest (as per the season). Take traditional lunch with one of the families in the village.

Return to the hotel by late afternoon or early evening with rest of the day at leisure or free for optional activities.

Day 06 – Amritsar to Delhi
Morning Afternoon visit Gobindgarh Fort – located in center of the city this fort has been thrown open to visitors this year only. Fort was built by a local chieftain Gujjar Singhi Bhangi in the 18th century to deter invading forces through Grand Trunk road, fort shot to fame during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Wander around the fort to understand the defense mechanism of those days.

Afternoon transfer to railway station to board the train to Delhi. Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel.

Day 07 – Depart Delhi
In time transfer to airport to board the flight for onward destination.
