Tour Duration: 03 Nights/ 04 Days
Northeast India Wildlife tour will cover two main national parks of the region (Manas and Kaziranga) and a small specialty (primate) sanctuary of northeastern region of India.
Northeast India is perched in a transitional zone of three major biogeographic regions (i.e. Indian, Indo-Malayan and Indo-Chinese) northeast India is the meeting place of the Himalayan Mountains with Peninsular India. It is believed that the northward drifting Deccan Peninsula first met with the Asian landmass here when it broke away from the Gondwana in early Tertiary period - thus, Northeast India is gateway for most of India’s flora and fauna. Northeast India’s geographic structure is such that it rises from near sea level to high mountains of eastern Himalayas. Different climatic condition, edaphic diversity and altitudinal variation has attributed largely to creation of diverse habitats supporting a large range of fauna and avian fauna, many of them endemic to the region. It is in northeast India one can find four big cats found in different conditions i.e. Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard and Snow Leopard. Northeast is primate enthusiast’s heaven – out of 22 primate species recorded in India, more than half are found in this region. Northeast India boasts of Hoolock Gibbon the only ape species found in India.
