Corbett National Park - Ranthambhore National Park – Bandhavgarh National Park – Kanha National Park

Our Tiger Tour is tiger centric programme. Not just a wildlife enthusiast but it is everyone’s dream to see Tiger in the wild atleast once in their lifetime and our “Tiger Tour” is answer to it. India is home to 50% of the wild Tigers in the world. This is a Tiger centric tour and prime destinations covered in this tour would be most celebrated Tiger Reserves of India where chance of sighting this majestic animal called Tiger in its natural habitat is high. Two of the Tiger Reserves/ National Parks in this tour would be from central India which is considered to be the hinterland of tiger activities in India and two others are in the different region. Idea of including wildlife reserves of different region is to showcase the adaptability of this big cat.  

One explores the jungle on open 4 x 4 jeeps and on elephant’s back also depending on where you are.

Though this tour is focused on Tiger sighting one would get to see an interesting list of other lesser and greater mammals including rich birdlife of the region apart from reptiles etc.

Day 01 – Delhi

Arrive IGI airport Delhi and transfer to hotel.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 – Delhi to Corbett National Park

Late Morning drive to Corbett National Park (280 Km/ 07 Hrs. approx.). Arrive Corbett and check in at your jungle lodge in the buffer zone with rest of the day at leisure to recuperate from long journey.

Day 03 – Corbett National Park (Day Zone)

Morning and evening game viewing drive in the day zone of Corbett National Park.

Corbett National Park is named after legendary hunter of man eaters Jim Corbett, who is known more for his conservation work. Apart from glory of being India’s oldest National Par, it is also the park where first Project Tiger was launched. An important aspect of Corbett National Park is that it offers a rare opportunity to wildlifers where one can stay overnight in the core zone of the national park; a true experience any wildlife enthusiast dream for.

Exploring the forest on foot is one other unique experience Corbett offers to visitors. Walk on the buffer forests gives an exciting opportunity for better understanding the park.

Rising from 400 to 1200 m above sea level, altitudinal variation has bestowed Corbett with rich biodiversity. Vegetation ranging from Himalayan to peninsular region are found here. The forest type primarily is tropical broad-leafed forest, Sal is the most dominant species here apart from river valleys with massive grasslands.

Dominant predator here is the Tiger followed by Leopard, Leopard cat etc. Hog Deer, Muntjac, Spotted Deer and Sambar are some of the herbivores found in Corbett landscape. Savanas (Dhikala grassland) are dominated by herds of elephants and other mammals seen here are Indian Pangolin, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Wild Boar, Otters, Martins etc. Ramganga reservoir boasts of endangered Garial the fish-eating crocodile.

Corbett landscape is certainly birders or bird watcher’s delight. Over 600 birds are reported in this area. 

Day 04 – Corbett National Park to Dhikala (Overnight Zone)

Morning depart your jungle lodge for Dhikala, the overnight zone of the park with stops en route for wildlife viewing. Arrive Dhikala and check in at your jungle lodge.

Evening game drive in the core zone.

Day 05 – Dhikala (Overnight Zone of Corbett)

Early morning elephant ride in the park. Rest of the day game drive in the park’s core zone as planned.

Day 06 – Dhikala to Delhi

Morning game drive in core zone. Later in the morning depart Dhikala for Dhangari gate. Arrive Dhangari gate board the awaiting vehicle and drive to Delhi (280 Km/ 07 Hrs. approx.)

Arrive Delhi and check in at hotel.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 07 – Delhi to Jaipur and Ranthambhore National Park

Late morning transfer to railway station to board the train for Sawai Madhopur. Arrive Sawai Madhopur by early evening and transfer to hotel.

Day 08 - Ranthambhore National Park

Ranthambhore National Park – Nestled in the confluence of Vindhyas and Aravali range Ranthambhore National Park derives its name from a historic 1000 years old fort that lies on top of the hills.  Started as a tiger hunting preserve for Jaipur Maharaja, it became one of the nine core zones under Project Tiger (a Tiger conservation project) by 1972. Ranthambhore no doubt is one of finest tiger reserves in India. With hundreds of small monuments spread all over the park, scenic Padam Talao, Malik Talao and Raj Bagh, with the spectacular fort in the background adds to the picturesque landscape of the park.

Sparse undergrowth and dry deciduous forest type makes game easier here than many other Indian parks. The Bengal Tiger, one of the most charismatic megafauna dominates the list of predators here followed by leopard, very elusive Caracal and Jungle Cat. The prey species here are Chital, Sambar, Nilgai (Blue Bull), Chinkara Gazelles. Omnivorous like Wild Boar and Sloth Bear are recorded here. The other predators and scavengers like Striped Hyena, Jackal, Mongoose and the Common Fox are also seen here. The other wildlife recorded here are Marsh Crocodile and Common Lungur etc.

Over 300 species of birds are recorded in and around Ranthambhore.

Day 09 - Ranthambhore National Park to Katni

Evening transfer to railway station to board overnight train for Katni.

Day 10 – Katni to Bandhavgarh National Park

Arrive Katni early morning and transfer to Bandhavgarh National Park (100 Km/ 02 Hrs. approx.)

Arrive Bandhavgarh and check in at jungle lodge.

Bandhavgarh National Park had been a Shikargarh or hunting preserve of Maharaja of Rewa till it became a National Park in 1968. Spread over ridges and valleys in the northern corner of Maikal range in Madhya Pradesh in central India. The landscape of the place is a mixture of forested rocky hills with flat tops and low-lying area with fairly levelled grassland ranging from 200 to 1000 mts. Spread over an area of 437 sq. km Bandhavgarh has the highest density of tigers in the world. Bandhavgarh National Park today is definitely one the finest place to see/ observe tigers in the wild. Vegetation of Bandhavgarh is a combination of tropical moist deciduous Sal and Terminalia mixed with bamboo, interspersed with meadows and marshes. Bandhavgarh has been home to white tigers thus it is also called land of the white tiger.

With Bandhavgarh fort that stands on the hilltop almost in the middle park and temples dotted around, Bandhavgarh National Park has quite a historical importance too. 

Tiger is the largest predator here followed by Leopard, Wolf, Dhole (Wild Dog), and Jungle Cat. Other carnivores, omnivores and scavengers are Sloth Bear, Hyena, Jackal, Indian Fox, Ratel, Palm Civet and Mongoose, Wild Boar etc. The park has plenty of prey base to suite its predators such as Chital, Sambar, Barking Deer, Nilgai, Indian Gazelle, and Chausingha, the only Four-Horned Antelope in the world. Bandhavgarh boasts of other mammals like Pangolin, Porcupines and in primates one can see Langur, Rhesus Macaque here.

Around 250 species of birds have been included in the checklist of Bandhavgarh National Park.

Day 14 - Kanha National Park

Situated in the Maikal range a branch of Satpura hills in Madhya Pradesh in central India Kanha National Park is the oldest and one of the best know wildlife reserves of India. Kanha has been immortalized by Rudyard Kipling in his novel Jungle Book in 1984 about adventure of Mowgli the Wolf boy for the legendry of its wilderness. Kanha National Park has been rated as the best managed park in Asia by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) one the premier conservation institutes in the world. It was here the first ever scientific, field study of tiger by eminent zoologist George Schaller took place. In this book The Deer and Tiger he has recorded a detail account of ecological and behavior of a Kanha Bengal Tiger and four prey species of hoofed mammals. Dry woodland dominates the hills of the Kanha while dense forests and Sal forests, bamboo and spared of grassland are found in the lower elevation. Kanha is the refuge for highly endangered Hard Ground Barasingha.

Kanha National Park is one the best place to see Tiger in its natural habitat, thus it is the dominant predator here followed by Leopard, Wolf, Striped Hyena and the Indian Wild Dog. The lesser predators include the Indian Fox, Common Palm Civet, Small Indian Civet, Jackal, Common and Ruddy Mongoose. Prey base here are Sambar, Chital, Blackbuck, Nilgai, Chousingha and Barking Deer. Other mammals here are the Sloth Bear, Indian Bison, Jungle Cat, Common Giant Flying Squirrel, Indian Flying Fox, Crested Porcupine and Pangolin, Common Langur and Rhesus Macaque.

Around 300 species of birds are recorded in Kanha’s birds checklist.

Day 15 - Kanha National Park

Day 16 - Kanha National Park to Jabalpur and Delhi

Morning game viewing drive in Kanha National Park.

Later in the morning drive to Jabalpur airport (170 Km/ 04 Hrs. approx.) to board the flight for Delhi.

Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel.

Day 17 – Depart Delhi

In time transfer to airport to board the flight onward journey.
